Primary Data Resources

Trauma registry

Mercy Trauma complies with the California Emergency Medical Services Information System (CEMSIS) statutes and regulations implemented by the San Diego County Emergency Medical Services. These regulations require the collection of trauma-related data points on all patients admitted to trauma services county-wide. Data are used for quality improvement, developing rationale for policy change, and research towards identifying population-based trends, treatment effectiveness, and trauma outcomes research.

HCAI

California Department of Health Care Access and Information

HCAI (which now includes the California Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development [OSHPD] data) is a collection of healthcare quality, outcome, financial, and utilization data, covering over 6000 of the state's health centers. These data provide for the ability to evaluate statewide trends in hospitalizations, surgical procedures, and trauma-related outcomes.

American College of Surgeons TQP®

The Trauma Quality Programs research dataset contains all records sent to the National Trauma Data Bank for pediatric and adult patients from Level I, II, III, IV, V or undesignated trauma centers across the United States. TQP includes data from previous datasets from ACS including NTDB and TQIP.
